Freightliner FLA Twin Container Wagons.



The NEW batch of Ready to Run modern image vehicles is once again the Popular 'Freightliner' FLA Twins, specifically designed to facilitate the movement of the increasingly more common 'HI-CUBE' containers throughout the UK rail network. These vehicles were ordered by Freightliner and assembled by Marcroft Engineering of Stoke on Trent, they have operated throughout the 1990's on Freightliner Intermodal workings.

Our model features the batch of 40 twin pairs, these being numbered 606101 - 606180.

The model features the LTF13 open framed bogie, detailed underframes, fixed and movable container pockets, UK style tension lock couplings fitted in a universal NEM pocket, moulded buffers. All models are correctly numbered, the second batch featuring two differently numbered pairs, both being different from the first batch. The two EVERGREEN containers in the FLA004 pack carry different container numbers too!

Class 143/144

’00 Gauge’ Ready to Run Class 143 / 144 DMU Project:

Cad Drawing work is well advanced re the bodyshell of our ALL NEW Class 144 two car DMU project, the

Drive design work will commence during summer 2010 using ALL wheel drive on the power car, the Class 144 is planned to meet today’s exacting standards of detail and reliability, our intention if for the 2 car unit to have a single powered car, powerful enough to pull a 3 car set, and not a 15 coach train, thus ALL windows will be see-through without internal cast blocks spoiling the overall appearance and balance of the train.

The specification for ALL current and future DMU’s, EMU’s & Locomotives will be:  

:           5 Pole Skew Wound motor and Low profile gearbox and gear train.

:           Individually moulded seating & partition layout.

:           External Handrail & Roof detailing.

:           Dummy Delner coupling in NEM pocket. (DMU & EMU’s Only)

:           Bi-Directional head & tail lights.

:           Constant DC Internal lighting. (Passenger Stock Only)

:           Flush glazed bodyshell.

:           Live coupling between carriages. (DMU & EMU’s Only)

:           DCC Ready. (But not DCC Fitted)

:           DCC Speaker aperture. (For future Sound fitted models)

:           High Quality paint finish.

The Class 144 will be introduced in a range of current modern liveries suitable for operation during the period 2000 to 2012.

Ref 144-01 Class 144 Alexander/Barclay 2 car DMU in Northern Night Blue & Purple livery.

Ref 144-02 Class 144 Alexander/Barclay 2 car DMU in West Yorkshire PTE / Northern ‘Metro’ Red & Silver Grey livery.

These models will be followed by a Class 143, the specification of this 2 car DMU will be identical to our Class 144 but will include a new buffer beam with early footsteps, repositioned battery boxes and electrical equipment, repositioned air brake equipment and a redesigned seating layout to suit the Class 143, which differs from the later built Class 144 DMU’s in their current day operations.

The Class 143 will be introduced in a range of current modern liveries suitable for operation during the period 2005 to 2012.

Ref 143-01 Class 143 Alexander/Barclay 2 car DMU in Arrive Trains Wales current Aquamarine & Cream livery.

Ref 143-02 Class 143 Alexander/Barclay 2 car DMU in First Great Western ‘Local Lines’ attractive advertising livery.

Time scale on the Class 144 Northern models is approx 3rd quarter 2011 followed by the Class 143 during early 2012.
